VDS new team headed by Dr. Dhanraj Patel as President and Dr. Bhushan Madake as Secretary installed

The office bearers of newly constituted team of Vidarbha Dermatological Society, (Vidarbha Chapter of IAVDL) were installed on June 2, 2019, at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur. The Team is headed by Dr. Dhanraj Patel, as President and Dr. Bhushan Madke as Hon. Secretary.  Veteran Dermatologist Dr. S.K.Punshi, Amaravati graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Senior Dermatologists Dr. Jayant Lanjewar, Dr. Bipin Mehta were the Guest of Honour.

Others office bearers were as under: Vice President: Dr. Vaishali Shingade, and Dr. Vivek Jain. Joint Secretary: Dr. Shashank Bansod and Dr. Pooja Balpande Dharmik. Treasurer: Dr. Asra Khumushi Executive Committee Members: Dr. Prajakta N. Nimbalkar, Dr. Rajshree R. Chaudhari, Dr. Esha Agrawal, Dr. Sandeep Kulkarni, Dr. Priyanka Magia, Dr.  Ashutosh Mehta Dr. Sandeep Arsad, Dr.  Snehal Potdukhe, Dr. Amar Surjushe.

The Chief guest Dr. S.K. Pushi to learn newer developments in dermatology.  He expressed concern on rising Leprosy cases in society. He urged youngsters to undertake research and produce our own data.  Dr. Mehata and Dr. Lanjewar also stressed need to cope with changes and learn from seniors and newer technological advances in dermatology.

The installation was followed by Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on “Cross Talks on Alopecia”

Dr. Pradeep Sethi, Hon. Prof. of Dermatology and Hair Transplant, Patil University and Alumnus of AIIMS, New Delhi, moderated a panel discussion. Dr. Parimal Tayade, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist, Nagpur, Dr. Vikas Bhute Consultant Psychiatrist, Treat Me Hospital, Nagpur and Dr. Ms. Meghana Kumare, Dietician and Nutritionist, Mumbai, were panellists.  Skin and Hair form the largest organ of the body and always reflect the health of the person they observed.

When the hair fall exceed 100 to 300 it is worth worrying. Normally hair has life of 3 to 6 months.  One should seek advice from qualified dermatologists only to avoid complications of wrong treatments by so called Tricologists and Cosmetologists.

They discussed step by step reasons of hair fall, when to worry, whom to consult and how the investigations are carried out to understand underlying pathophysiology. Sometimes the underlying psychological issues like anxiety, depression also need to be addressed professionally to get proper response to therapy and medicaments.

Endocrinal disturbances and nutrition deficiencies Iron deficiency anaemia also need attention.  In short it is to be addressed by team of experts. Varieties of other alopecia also came up for discussion and were answered by the panel. Infections, drug side effects, pregnancy, aging, genetic predisposition, auto immune and structural hair defects are responsible for hair fall.

Earlier Outgoing President Dr. Sangeeta Bhamburakrmade gave the opening welcome speech and Outgoing Secretary Dr. Nilesh Mahatme presented annual Report. Treasurer’s report was read by Dr Asra Khumushi.

VDS members Friends from medical fraternity graced the occasion took the benefit of the Academic feast.Dr. Ashutosh Mehta and Dr. Rashmi Jirapure were the master of ceremony Dr. Bhushan Madke, Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
