Makode to represent India in BWF world senior badminton championships in Poland

Kiran Makode of LIC of India, Nagpur Division, will be representing the Indian Badminton squad which shall be participating in the BWF World Senior Badminton Championships – 2019 which is to be held in Katowice, Poland from August 4, 2019 to August 11, 2019.

Makode got selected for the BWF World Senior Badminton Championships by virtue of his excellent performance in Goa Nationals held in January, 2019, where he bagged Silver in Men’s Singles and Bronze in Men’s Doubles category.

Earlier, as a player in the Senior World Championships, he has represented India in Senior World Championships in Spain (2009), Turkey (2013), Sweden (2015) and India (2017).  He has also represented India in Foo Kok Keong Cup in Singapore (2017) and Hong Kong (2018).

Kiran Makode is also qualified BWF Level 1 Coach and has attended the prestigious Badminton World Federation Coaches Conference in Dubai during Dubai World Series 2016.  He was also amongst the top seven Olympic Gold Quest Coaches of India and has been instrumental in shaping careers of many young players of the region who have won and winning laurels in state, national and international events.

On the occasion of his participation in the BWF World Senior Badminton Championships, in a brief ceremony held in LIC of India, Divisional Office premises, Kiran was felicitated by Sr.Divisional Manager of LIC and President of LIC Sports and Recreation Club Nagpur Division Mr.Mukesh Chandra Joshi.

While congratulating Kiran on his achievement, M.C. Joshi said that all of us are looking forward to a great performance in Katowice, Poland.  L.M. Deshpande, Manager (P&I.R.), Abhay Pandey, Secretary, LIC Sports and Recreation Club, Milind Rambhad, Abhay Nimje, Rakesh Bhugaonkar, Madhuri Gurnule, Mamata Sawane, G. Hariharan Sarma and other members of the sports club were present on the occasion and wished him all the best for his participation.

Kiran Makode, while thanking  M.C. Joshi, Sr. Divisional Manager and others for the felicitation, thanked Arun Lakhani, President, Maharashtra Badminton Association, Mangesh Kashikar, Secretary, NDBA and all officials of MBA and NDBA for their continued support in his endeavours.
