Maharashtra teams For Sub-Junior Nationals announced

Nagpur’s Sameeksha, Sarthak to lead Maharashtra Sub-Junior teams

Sameeksha Chandak and Sarthak Dhuldhule of Nagpur will lead the 12-member girls and boys teams of Maharashtra in the 46th Sub-Junior (U-13) National Basketball Championship. The national championship will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha from September 3 to 9, 2019.

All the players were given playing kits in two different colours, tracksuits, kit bags, t-shirts and caps on Saturday. The kit distribution was done by the hands of businessman Chetan Bhartia.

On the occasion Secretary of Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA), Bhavesh Kuchanwar presided over the function and wished the contingent luck. On the occasion, NDBA vice president Samri Shrivastava, treasurer Nitin Patwardhan, executive member Shatrughna Gokhale, technical committee chairman Amit Sampat were also present.

From the Mayor’s Cup Maharashtra State Sub-Junior (U-13) Basketball Championship organised by the Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) a 16-member list of probable players were selected.

After a seven-day preparatory camp the 12-member Maharashtra team in both the boys and girls’ section was selected for the National Sub-Junior Championship. The state teams will depart from Nagpur on Sunday afternoon.

Girls: Sameeksha Chandak (captain), Gunjan Mantri, Samruddhi Agrawal (all Nagpur), Aanaya Bhavsar, Sara Chopade, Janhavi Kakde, Pragati Nawale, Akshaya Patil (All Pune), Rutuja Nalwade, Afza Khan (both Mumbai Central), Samira Bhalla (Mumbai South West), Siddhi Shinde (Satara). Head Coach: Shatrughna Gokhale; Coach: Dhirak Kadao. Manager: Tejaswini Mahadik.

Sarthak Dhuldhule

Boys: Sarthak Dhuldhule (Nagpur – Captain), Yogesh Yadav, Taufiq Shaikh, Amit Yadav (all Mumbai South West), Badal Rawat, Aryan Lakhani, Zain Lakhani, Manit Agrawal, Magh Atre (all Pune), Rajveer Shah, Hemant Lakhpati (both Mumbai North), Kunal Shinde (Satara). Head Coach: Hemant Nipane. Coach: Vishal Chabbra. Manager: Deepak Kapoor.
