Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways has confirmed that the central government is not at all planning to ban the use of diesel and petrol vehicles in a press meet held in New Delhi today.
According to the union minister, the diesel and petrol automobile industry is providing too many job opportunities and hence it is fulfilling the employment needs of the people of this country. Besides this, the automobile industry is also having a high value on the export level. And blaming just the vehicles for pollution in the air is not at all fair, we have more options to tackle the same problem but banning is not amongst one.
Gadkari during the press meet said, “The ministry was almost in the favour of banning the petrol and diesel vehicle which was decided by the suggestions and discussions between the higher authorities. But as of now there is no charge taken in this regard and neither we are going to have anything on this topic”
