Nagpur varsity’s ‘Earn and Learn scheme’ proves beneficial for students

A progressive initiative which was recently taken by the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) named the Earn and Learn scheme of has received a positive response from the students. In this scheme  155 students were selected for the part time work in the first phase and 45 more students have been selected  in the second phase.Dr S N Prathan has initiated the scheme and now it has been modified.Intial stage it has got a poor response. The students were allotted different works in various departments of the University.

The students are allotted work for about three hours in a day and paid for it. The scheme really boosted the economically weak students from rural area living in hostels. Many of them were working outside even as waiters in hotels and bars. The University, which is suffering due to inadequate non-teaching staff, is also benefited as the students are useful in carrying out routine works. At Present, the scheme is available for the students studying in the University departments. As per information many colleges which are affiliated to Nagpur University are also planning to introduce this scheme in their colleges.
