DGA Central, Mumbai lifts team championship

DGA Central, Mumbai stunned defending champions A.G. Nagpur 2-1 to lift the Men’s Team Championship in the IA&AD West Zone Carrom Tournament being held in the multipurpose hall of Office of the Accountant General (A&E)- II, Maharashtra, Nagpur.

In the first match of the Team Championship, Raju Bhaisare of A.G. Nagpur beat Dilesh Khedekar of DGA Central, Mumbai 25-14, 22-14. But in the second match, Jitendra Kale of DG Central, Mumbai beat P.B. Ninawe 25-1, 25-4. In the decider doubles match, hosts Sudhir Bamburde and Rajesh Jambulkar went down fighting 19-15, 19-9 to the pair of Dileep Kale and Pradeep Boria to lift the Men’s team Championship title. Both teams qualify for the Inter Zonals to be played at the same venue from 4 th Nov. 2019.

In the mens singles, Raju Bhaisare of A.G. Nagpur entered the Quarter finals blanking Santhosh Bharati of A.G. Gwalior (25-0, 25-0). Others to enter the last eight are, Dilesh Khedekar of DGA Central, Mumbai, K. Ramachandran of A.G. Gwalior, Dileep Kale of A.G. Mumbai, Jitendra Kale of DGA Central, Mumbai, Rajesh Kumar of A.G. Gwalior, Vijay Mohare of A.G. Gwalior and Gopal Panchal of A.G. Mumbai.

In the womens singles, the reigning champion, Rashmi Ranjan of A.G. Gwalior ousted Surekha Parab of A.G. Mumbai 25-9, 25-0 to meet Audry D’Souza of A.G. Mumbai who beat Nandita Shivsaran of DG Central, Mumbai to reach the finals.

In the Veteran singles, Pradeep Kharat of A.G. Mumbai beat N.P. Dhurve of A.G. Nagpur 17-9, 24-1 to meet B.N. Verma of A.G. Chattisgarh who beat Anil Karmale of A.G. Bhopal to reach the finals. The tournament would conclude on 2.11.19. The Prize distribution would at the hands of  L. Hangsing, Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement), Nagpur on 2 nd Nov. at 4 pm.
