Nowadays travelling on the roads of Nagpur is a constant fight. The overall conditions of the roads make the everyday commute harder than it needs to be. After the public appeal the HC has asked the civic body to mend the potholes of the city as soon as possible.Afterwards, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has repaired the potholes almost every areas of the city.
Now the citizens are facing another issue as the cement road work going on in the city at snail’s pace. And the Nagpurians are urged the HC to look into the matter and take proper action regarding it. As per information, around 110-km-long cement roads are being laid at the cost of Rs.750 crores in three phases. It has been reported that the 70% of the work which was completed is not up to the mark and raised different allegations which mainly point towards the flouting of the rules.
As per information, the state government has sanctioned Rs.300 crore for the phase-II work. The Nagpur Improvement Trust, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has contributed Rs.100 crore each for this project. The work on 30-km-road in Phase-I was to be completed by 2013.However, 20.52 kms of this stretch have been completed so far. And Phase-II work, out of total 59kms, only 49kms of work is completed. In Phase-III, work on 21kms has started while that on 19kms is yet to commence and affected the cost of the project.
The commuters are facing many issues related to cement road construction. The authorities have not taken care about the proper designing of the cement as the cement road junctions have not been properly designed at squares leading to slope. And it has caused the destruction of the greenery in the city which ultimately increased the temperature of the city. Even in new cement roads the potholes are already visible which really give a bumpy ride for the commuters.
