Ahead of Winter Session in Nagpur, police personnel leaves cancelled

It has been reported that in view of the upcoming Winter Session of State Legislature in Nagpur, the state police headquarters has issued an order to Nagpur Police to cancel leaves of police personnel for bandobast. More than 5,000 police personnel along with seven companies of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) would be deployed for the Assembly bandobast this year. As per information, the move is being seen as preventive measure due to shortage of police staff during police bandobast. Special Inspector General of Police Milind Bharambe, Law and Order stated that all type of leaves including weekly offs of police personnel stand cancelled from December 14 till end of the session. A thick security blanket has been thrown over the Second Capital for the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature slated to begin from Monday.

About 5,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed in the bandobast to maintain law and order during the session. Security arrangements are being monitored by Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyaya, Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kadam and Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nilesh Bharne. Director General of Police Subodh Jaiswal would review the security arrangements on Saturday.
