Two day national conference AMWICON-2019 begins

The two day ‘All women doctors’ conference of National Conference of Association of Medical women in India, AMWICON-2019 began on December 14. The conference is hosted by Association of Medical Women in Nagpur from December 14 to 15 at Hotel Center Point, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur.

It commenced today with a warm up Zumba Dance and a Public Awareness Walkathon at 7 a.m. which was flagged off by Dr. Vartika Parihar, Beauty Queen and Fitness Icon and ACP Traffic Nagpur Police, Jayesh Bhandarkar.The participants carried placards with focusing Women’s Health and Social issues facing the country to make society sensitive to Women. It started from Centre Point to Panchsheel Square and back. Scientific programme is a Feast for Academicians and Clinicians alike. Here, women doctors from every medical faculty are sharing knowledge, experience and cases to create a pool of knowledge for all the participants, that is further useful for fraternity at large which deals with variety of patients.Numerous topics from Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology to Dental are being deliberated in symposia, debates and plenary sessions. PGs also got an opportunity to showcase their talent in award papers & poster sessions.

The “Walkathon” was followed by amazing scientific programme comprising symposia on Breast cancer, Obst & Gynec Emergencies, Infectious Diseases and Graceful Aging. Three prestigious Orations to be delivered by Dr. Uma Singh, Lucknow, Dr Nirmala Mokadam Oration: “Role of Medical Women in Eradication of Ca Cx in India” Dr Marie Catchatoor Memorial Oration “Corrosive Gastroesophageal lesions and strictures – An Indian perspective” by Dr. Sushila Shripad. Kolkata, AMWI Mumbai Branch Dr Usha Saraiya President’s Oration : Enigma of PCOS by Dr. Sarita Bhalerao Mumbai, was the hall mark events today.Dr. Pallavi Darade, Commissioner, Food & Drug Administration, Govt. of Maharashtra graced the inauguration as the Chief Guest and while Wing Cdr. Dr. Indu Bala (Retd) was the Guest of Honour. An honest contribution to Save Planet Earth, an “E Souvenir edited by Dr.Vidya Sutone and Dr. Shivangi Jahagirdar was released to highlight this

 

conference. Both the Guests highlighted their life as a breakthrough in Male dominated fields in Administration and Defense respectively. Dr. Mrudul Chande, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Nalini Kurve, Org. Chairperson, highlighted the association activities. Dr. Manorama Purwar expressed her thoughts and told about past history. Dr. Sumati Ridhorkar, Dr. Usha Saraiya Dr. Mandakini Megh were felicitated on the occasion. Dr. Abha Bang Soni was awarded AWMI Golden Jubilee Award 2018 for her Best research paper last year.

Dr. Sumeet Baheti and Dr. Manisha Rathi were MOC. Dr. Kshama Kedar introduced Dr. Pallavi Darade while Dr. Alka Kumar introduced Dr. Indu Bala. Dr. Alka Mukherjee Org. Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The workshop on Medical Emergencies and Critical care saw topics like Unlocking Physiology of Shock, Intra op unstable haemodynamics, Acute Respiratory failure, CPR Demonstration and Sepsisn – Univerasal Hurdel. Another Synmposium on Emergencies covered Post Partum Hemorrhage a nightmare by Dr. Kshama Kedar and explained techniques to counter the same to save mothers.

Dr. Mrunalini Borkar discussed Surgical Emergency. Dr. Manish Shembekar spoke on ICU Management of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Dr. Priyanka Kamble, President NOGS described Climacteric transit. Important topics of debate were Prophylactic Mastectomy Dr. Rashmi Mundra spoke for while Dr. Sulabha Joshi opposed the motion. Artificial Intelliegence will replace Doctors in future were debated by Dr. Prachi Saxena and refuted by Dr Gauri Arora.

Dr. Yamini Kale spoke for “Uterine Transplant Surgery” while Dr Ritu Dargan opposed the motion.
