Five students, including four girls and a boy who came to inform fellow students about the cancellation of a peaceful protest, were evicted by Bajaj Nagar police near the VNIT gate around 3 pm on Saturday.

According to the information, the students from different colleges had come to send back people who had responded to social media posts. The students were asking them to return as the peaceful protests in support of Jamia Millia students against CAA and NRC had canceled.

The five students were warned not to assemble at the place as it could be a violation of Section 144 of CRPC. Till around 4 pm, no one was allowed to even stand close to the VNIT gate. No case was registered against anyone.

The protest was organized by several youths who had been postings different stories related to the Jamia Milia protest episode.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone I Vivek Masal appealed the citizens to not to form an unlawful assembly. They are free to hold a protest with permission at the designated places.
