SC issues termination notice to 125 NMC, NIT employees over fake caste validity certificate

Following the Supreme Court’s order around 125 employees of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) have been served termination notices for producing fake caste validity certificates to get reservation benefits. Very soon these employees and officers would be removed from their jobs.

However, there is a difference between the number of actual employees whose caste validity certificates were canceled and the number of employees to whom notices were served. Due to this difference, it is alleged that the administration is trying to shield a few employees.

The reservation benefits are applicable to all the government, semi-government, municipal corporations, Zilla Parishad, municipal councils, government-aided educational institutes, cooperative societies, universities and government undertaking institutes. At present, 63,000 employees and officers are working on reserved posts. However, out of these the caste validity certificate of 12,500 employees and officer’s caste certificates were declared void.

These employees include 25 employees working in NIT and more than 100 employees and teachers working on these employee’s maximum employees will retire in the next one or two years.

Meanwhile considering the huge number of employee’s government has ordered for implementing a special programme under which these employees will be shifted the excess employees’ category. These employees will be appointed on 11 months contract basis and vacant posts will be filed through the reservation.
