IGNOU conducts its Term End Examinations in June and December every year. In a Press Release, Dr P Sivaswaroop, Regional Director of IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre informed that due to Covid-19 and the Lockdown, IGNOU decided to postpone June, 2020 term end exams, which were scheduled to commence from June 1, 2020. The new schedule will be announced later taking cognizance of the situation and the students will be informed at least 15 days in advance. Close to 7.5 lakh candidates are eligible for the end-term exam of which 30% are from Delhi.
Under Nagpur Region, 11 Exam Centres were established. Out of 14 Districts under IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre, as per latest status of Covid-19, 3 Districts are under RED Zone, 7 are under Orange Zone and 4 are Green Zone.
Professor Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, New Delhi informed that in order to provide sufficient time to learners, the dates of submission of assignments, exam form submission, and re-admission have been extended upto May 31, 2020 keeping in view the issues faced by the learners due to the continuous lockdown.
Assuring the students who have to submit project reports as part of the evaluation process in some subjects, Rao said that that project submission process has also been made online for which guidelines will be issued by the University separately. In respect of the programmes requiring fieldwork and collection of primary data, exploration and analysis of secondary research data would be allowed in lieu of fieldwork.
In this Lockdown period, IGNOU has been using Digital Media to support its students in organizing Induction Meeting, Counselling Sessions etc. Sessions are held through Gyan Darshan TV Channel, Gyan Vani FM Radio, Facebook Google Class, Youtube etc. The Scanned copies of handwritten Home Assignments are accepted through email.
