COVID-19 hospital at KT Nagar, residents launch agitation

The residents of KT Nagar has launched an agitation on Sunday morning against the COVID-19 hospitals to be developed by the civic authority. They raised the issue of risk factor regarding the hospital. They protested the decision of civic authorities of developing hospital right in the middle of the premises of the apartment.Citizens alleged developing hospitals may play havoc with the life of people as there is a risk of spread of coronavirus. Congress MLA of West Nagpur Vikas Thakare led the agitation. He strongly demanded not to develop the hospital in the area. Residents of Rachna Srushti apartment at KT Nagar, Katol road launched agitation against the decision of NMC to come up with hospital to treat coronavirus patients in that area.

Surprisingly NMC without giving a second thought planned the hospital right in the middle of the premises of residential apartment where 600 people stay. Rachna Srushti Apartment Owners’ Association has sent a letter to District Collector and requested him to drop the plan of developing the hospital. There are two residential complexes (Rachna Srushti and Rachna Vishwa) adjoining the upcoming facility for coronavirus patients.

Both these complexes have a combined strength of around 500 family members which are going to be exposed to the risk of getting affected by the coronavirus. There is a slum area just opposite to the complex with strength of more than 2,000 members who also stand exposed to the risk of contracting the virus.
