Zonal doctor seen spitting in public

In the wake of a hazardous virus, which already has declared the state of Maharashtra alone, more morbid than that of the whole china, few white collar workers are still out there putting the situation at stake for others. A Nagpur Municipal Corporation, NMC,  zonal medical doctor (Gandhibagh) , Dr Khwaja Moinuddin is seen spitting in a public place while being surrounded with a bunch of local people.

Moinuddin is the zonal officer from one of the worst affected hot spots in Nagpur with 243 cases alone from Mominpura which is one amongst the other eleven location having positive patients of novel corona virus.

Although the doctor is wearing a face mask, but in the viral video he is seen gargling and spitting water in open space, which in this pandemic makes it worse as this same person is a doctor who deals with the positive patients of corona virus of the city.

What the terms being coined are Frontline Warriors and while what message is being given by the ones who are actually believed to be struggling with hardships and overtime. Maharashtra state has recently put a strict law to curb the menace of spitting in public along with smoking and consumption of tobacco products in public.

According to the State Health Minister, Rajesh Tope, the person seen violating the rules will be charged with a fine of rupees 1,000 for the first time, along with public service duties for one whole day. If the violator is caught for the second time, the offender must pay rupees 3,000 along with public service for three days.

Even after such strict regulations being made for the safety of citizens, the one to encourage these laws are seen standing with a label of violators amongst the public.

Praveen Gantawar, Assistant Medical Officer(AMO) , NMC told TLN, “Laws are meant to be the same everyone in the state, be it a citizen or a doctor and everyone should follow the same”. Further on the case of Moinuddin, he stated, “We will have a discussion on this with Dr Khwaja, and look for his side of the story as well. If at all he is found to be guilty, strict action will be taken.”

Dayashankar Tiwari who is the corporator of Gandhibagh zone gave a turn to the story as he stated  “The said doctor is tirelessly working day and night, looking after the corona positive patients and at the same time he is being mocked by the locals of Mominpura area. The doctor is being called out by names and even is being threatened to be burnt in public by a group from that same area.”

Tiwari believes that the viral video is a planned and planted act to defame the identity of Dr Khwaja. With a realist approach, he informed “Although I will not call it spitting but rather go with word Gargling, kulla’  but since he is seen doing it in public and in open the corporation should be taking measures in this case”.
