The transfer orders of five senior police inspectors (PIs) were issued on Friday. The move has been taken in the light of a recent arrest of a sub-inspector Rajesh Thakur of Ajni police station.
Thakur was caught red handed by the Anti Corruption Beareau (ACB) on Wednesday evening, while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The Director General of Police (DGP) had come up with an order to transfer the station officer in-charge of any police station, if any of the police personnel or officer working in the station is found taking bribe two months before. When sub-inspector Thakur was arrested, it was pre-empted that this could happen.
Ajni senior police inspector and station incharge Santosh Khander and four others were transferred.
According to the new order, Khander has been shifted to crime branch and Kapil Nagar PI, Pradeep Rainanwar has taken the charge of Ajni police station. Mukhtar Sheik from crime branch has taken charge at Kapil Nagar police station. Prabhakar Mate has been moved from control room to traffic branch.
