People breaking law will be strictly dealt with: Nagpur Police Commissioner

The new Police Commissioner of Nagpur Amitesh Kumar in his media interaction which was organised by Nagpur Union of Working Journalists (NUWJ), at Nagpur Press Club made it very clear that people breaking or violating any kind of law will be dealt with very strictly.

It has been just two months since Amitesh Kumar has been appointed with this post and he has already started working towards making Nagpur a ‘CRIME FREE CITY’.

Amitesh Kumar addressed all the issues concerning the people of the city one after the other. He assured that no kind of special treatment of favouratism will be shown by the police to anyone. Everyone will be treated the same in the eyes of law and hopes the relationship between the citizens and the policemen will just evolve and be stronger in the course of time.

Commenting on various issues related to traffic rules he said that “even though challans and fines are been implemented on people indulging in such activities but also admitted to the fact that he feels much more needs to be done”.

He said citizens have to be properly educated on the importance of following traffic laws and how many mishaps and accidents can be averted and how many lives can be shared by just following it. CCTV cameras have been a huge help in tracking traffic violators and also if any fancy number plate is found which does not abide by the guidelines set under the Motor Vehicles Act then their vehicles will be seized. Any sort of cars having tented windows will be eligible for fine. Apart from these red light violations, overspeeding, parking in no parking zones, helmetless driving all these offences will also be dealt with very strictly.

He also assured that many other traffic issues such as beggars asking for money in traffic signals, nuisance created by auto drivers in Sitabuldi will also be dealt with at the earliest.

He also added that Nagpur Police will be working towards stricter punishment for people breaking law. For this he has tried that number of Non-Bailable Warrants issued by the court increases.

The rising rate of murder in the city has been a cause of concern for him and he is working towards that. He warned people who are indulged in the illegal liquor trade, illegal betting, or any kind of such activities to mend their ways before any harsh action is taken against them.

He also addressed the problem of the increasing number of cybercrimes in the city and how citizens should be more careful and cautious and not share their bank details, passwords, or any kind of financial information with anyone.

Speaking about Sameet Thakkar who was recently arrested for his remarks on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhave Thackeray and his son he informed that Sameet Thakkar was found making offensive and defamatory tweets on various persons and about religion.
