School teachers in a fix as 50% attendance not possible due to COVID-19 duty

Several school techers are deputed to services related to coronavirus pandemic. School teachers are now in a fix as the State government in a recent notification made 50 percent attendance mandatory.

The 50 percent attendance demands presence in school on every alternate day. In such situation the teachers’ bodies have asked that how there will be 50 percent attendance of teachers in schools.

The teachers’ bodies have appealed chief executive officers and education officers to look into this issue.

Services of many teachers are being associated with coranavirus epidemic measures programme under Disaster Management Act from last six months.

The services of teachers are being utilised at ration distribution centres, isolation centres and continuous survey.

The schools have not opened yet on the backdrop of COVID-19. But students are being taught through online, offline and distance education mediums.

As the 50 percent attandance of teachers in school is made mandatory, then the teachers involved in coronavirus work should be releived, demanded district president of Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Committee Leeladhar Thakre and others.
