The Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B during a programme organised to felicitate sanitation workers stated that all of us need to work together and ensure that Nagpur finds a place among ‘Top 10’ cities in the country in Swachhata Survekshan 2020-21.The biggest responsibility in this regard lays with the sanitation workers who work on the field.
The programme was held at Satranjipura Zone No 7 office. In the programme, three sanitation workers namely Neelam Suresh Tambe,Sagar Prabhu, and Poonam Anil Hazare were felicitated as the‘Best Sanitation Worker’ from Prabhag No 5, 20, and 21.Radhakrishnan B felicitated them with certificate, bouquet, shawl, and shreefal. Commissioner said that Nagpur could even top the chart in cleanliness rankings if the sanitation workers work honestly and with utmost dedication.
He emphasized the need for segregation of wet and dry municipal waste. “It is the responsibility of Nagpur Municipal Corporation to make the people aware about this. From NMC’s side, the situation has improved to a great extent. Earlier, NMC’s ranking was 58. Not, it is 18.With everyone’s concerted efforts, Nagpur city should be among ‘Top 10’ in the country. If we do our job properly for a year, citizens also will give appropriate response,†he remarked.
