Gondia: With no auction of any sand ghats, illegal excavation is rampant at various ghats. Taking cog- nizance of many complaints received in this regard, Gondia Collector Deepak Kumar Meena has ordered to make use of drone cameras to check the illegal activity. Additional Collector Rajesh Khawale will head the team to keep tab on illegal excavation.
There are 27 sand ghats in Gondia district. On Thursday, drone cameras were flown over Dangorli and Tedwa Ghat on experimental basis. Khawale said that administration will outsource the drone camera handlers and there will be surprise checks on every sand.
Drone camera trials underway at Tedwa in Gondia ghat and persons captures in the camera while engaged in illegal activity, would face action as per law.
Further, RTO will take action against the vehicles involved in illegal excavation and their registration could be cancelled, he added.
