Association of Coaching Institute demands re-opening of coaching classes in city

Association of Coaching institute Nagpur on Saturday while talking at a press conference on Saturday emphasized on the need of permitting coaching classes to operate. Rajnikant Bondre, President of Association of Coaching Institute said, “While announcing the lockdown, the Government asked coaching institute and schools to be closed. Now the phase-wise unlocking process has been started but the Government has forgotten to allow the coaching institute to start. When all the State Government across the country has permitted coaching classes to operate, why the Maharashtra Government is no allowing us to start our classes,”.

Adding further he said, “We are surprised over this and appealed to the Government to allow the coaching classes to conduct offline classes forthwith.”

He further stated that from last months the coaching classes are undergoing tremendous financial burden and finding it difficult to pay staff salaries, premises rent, electricity bills, etc. but we did not back out from our duty of providing quality coaching to our students through online coaching.

Now that the exam dates for various courses are announced it is furthermore necessary to open the offline coaching classes, in other states, they have correctly understood the need and allowed the classes to function but in our state, the requests for the same is falling on deaf ears. “This will result into our students trailing behind in the exams which they have to compete with all India students.”

Panini Telang, Secretary added, “It is very surprising to note when hotels, Malls, temples which assembles large gatherings are allowed to operate but the coaching classes which falls under discipline category are kept away from operating the classes.” He added that it is to be noted here that coaching is a naturally evolved education system to cater to the coaching for the entrance exams like JEE, NEET, CA foundation, CSEET, CS entrance exam LLB, etc. It is necessary to appear for an entrance exam to get admission into these professional courses. The methodology is not taught in schools and colleges as they have their own syllabus coaching.

The coaching classes are thus helping career building of students so that they become successful professionals and contribute to nation-building and also supporting the economy by Paying GST, income tax, professional tax, local and other taxes. “The Government always sees coaching classes as profit-making establishments which is not true as the Government is taking away major chunk by way of GST and what if left with us is a meager amount,” Telang said.

Virag Mitkary added that coaching classes are also contributing to the social cause by providing free education to poor students and also providing employment to thousands of teaching and non-teaching staff. He questioned, What we get in return from the Government? Nothing, and always a hanging sword on our neck by way of various regulatory provisions of different laws and step-motherly treatment as in the present case.

The logic behind not allowing coaching classes to function is beyond the imagination of ordinary prudence when the same students are allowed to go to schools but are refrained from going to coaching classes. This clearly shows that the Government is doing this deliberately to harass the coaching classes and hence ACI has decided to fight it out on all fronts till last. Dr Sameer Phale was also present at the press conference.
