Only single person allowed on two-wheelers during Holi

Extending the restrictions released on March 26, looking at the increase in the Corona positive cases in city. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) further through a notification on Friday informed that big buses will run to 50 per cent of its passenger capacity during March 28 and March 29. Four wheelers are permitted to carry one passenger only, i.e. driver and only one person is allowed in four wheelers. Only single person is allowed on two wheeler.  

NMC has already banned community celebration of Holi. More than five people cannot come together for the celebration like ‘Holika Dahan’ and playing colours. Even youth and other peoples also are on the street to visit their near and dear ones, and play colours and enjoy the festival. The restriction on mobility of people has also been banned by the NMC.

CP Amitesh Kumar also warns of strict action against people not following the restrictions
Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police during a press conference informed that police team has raised to the occasion, and those violating the norms issued by the NMC will not be spared.  The top cop further informed that after meeting with all senior police inspectors of all police stations of city and traffic incharge along with top officials, security has been tighten.

He said there will be ‘naka bandhi’ (check post) at 66 points. “We have identified 75 fixed points, where strict police patrolling will be done. Three mobile patrolling vehicles will be deployed in each police station to keep watch on people not coming together or violating the norms. Strict watch on drunk and drive or illicit accumulation of liquor”,  he said.

He also added that the police force has tighten its belt to check the crime on Holi, as the city has a history of crimes incident taking place on Holi. “Root march has been ordered to police stations and even combing of criminals has been started to make the festival of colours peaceful,” he said. Emphasizing on the restrictions issued by NMC, Commissioner of Police warned that even gated apartment residence cannot play colours in their basement. He has also appealed to the public to follow the norms or face action of police.
