During a meeting with officers regarding the COVID-19 situation in the district, Anil Deshmukh , Home Minister, took stock of COVID-19 situation in the district and asked the officers to prepare a plan for availability of beds in government as well as private hospitals. The officers told him in the meeting that 30 beds would be added every day from Monday at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). “The number of COVID-19 cases is increasing every day in Nagpur city. This is increasing burden on healthcare system. The number of deaths also are rising. Besides, there is advisory that next 15 days may be tough.
In such a situation, people should not move out of their house if not necessary, â€Deshmukh said while addressing a meeting of senior officers at Divisional Commissionerate here on Sunday. The officers present in the meeting expressed concern over crowding in city despite various appeals to people. The Home Minister took stock of availability of beds in Government and private hospitals, supply of medical oxygen and medicines, etc. He spoke to Commissioner of Food and Drugs Administration over telephone from the meeting and directed to ensure smooth supply of medical oxygen. The officials told him that there was no problem with supply of Remdesivir and other requisite medicines.
