Even after countless appeals, orders, and restricting the movement in the city people are seen on the streets. In order to reduce the unnecessary gathering City, Police, and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) have decided to conduct a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) of those roaming on streets without valid reason.
If such persons test positive, the police will quarantine them for 14 days at government institutions. The drive will begin from Saturday.
Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B has sent the proposal to DCP Special Branch Dr Baswarj Teli who forwarded it to Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar. After discussing the proposal in the meeting, the CP has given a green signal, it was learnt. A team of Health Department of NMC also join the police to conduct the testing on the streets. Currently, the police have enforced nakabandi at 66 points in the city.
A bandobast of 2,200 police personnel and 500 homeguards enforced on the city streets for enforcement of curbs. It may be mentioned that the police have detained a total of 2,244 vehicles for plying on the streets without a valid reason, 735 people were challaned for not wearing masks and 1,282 were fined for not maintaining social distancing
