CM Uddhav Thackeray directs to implement strict measures against violators

Taking cognizance against the rapid spurt of daily cases and violation of restriction in various cities Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray directed the strict implementation of emergency measures announced during lockdown in order to Break the Chain.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a Crucial Meeting with Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and DGP Sanjay Pande where he said the administration should focus on avoiding crowding and violation of stringent curbs in a serious bid to break the virus chain.

CM insisted that it should be done while paying due attention to maintenance of law and order.

CM also insisted that administration needs to be vigilant so that essential and medical services including vaccination will not be hampered during the lockdown.

A Home Department officer informed that Thackeray asked the police force not to use force in controlling the crowding instead they should take the citizens on board by creating online and offline awareness of the BreaktheChain Guidelines.

CM has asked the administration to pay proper attention on the use of public and private transport as per the guidelines.

To curb the virus government has reserved use of public transport for Government Personnel, Medical professionals or those in need of medical treatment.

State Government or local Government owned public buses will ply at 50 per cent of their capacity, without standees. Inter-city or inter district travel by long-distance trains and buses will be subject to certain conditions.

According to the Government Guidelines, Private Transport, Excluding buses, can ply only for emergency or Essential services or valid reasons, with driver plus 50 percent of the seating capacity.

Maharashtra recorded 67,013 new cases with 568 death in last 24 hour taking the active case in the state to 6,99,858, while 62,298 were recovered from the deadly virus taking the total tally of recoveries to 33,30,747. Maharashtra has registered total 40,94,840 since the pandemic began.

The death tally reached to 62,479 Number of people in home quarantine are 39,71,917, number of people in institutional quarantine 29,014. The Recovery Rate of state stands at 81.34% while the fatality rate is 1.53%.
