A major fire was reported on Wednesday at 8.05 am in the Lakadganj area of East Nagpur. The area mostly consist of wood, furniture and saw mill market. Fortunately, no casualties has been reported.
As per the information, while trying to control the fire firemen Pravin Zade and one worker assisting the fire team on the site became unconscious and were rushed to the hospital due to breathing problem. Both were admitted to New Era hospital, Lakadganj. Both were stable report said.
The two Saw mills that sufferded loss in the fire is owned by Ashok Dhoble under the name M/S Ashwin Timber Mart and tenant M/S Aapnaa Goods Garage, a grossery materials shop. The second was owned by Nanaji Rambhau khedkar Parmatma Furniture shop.
The fire spread rapidly in the area because of wood and wooden material stored there.
NMC Fire and Emergency Department put all efforts and got control over the fire by 11 am, Ten fire tenders including two from Lakadganj, one each from Ganjipeth, Cotten Market, Sugat Nagar, Kalamana and two each from Sakkardara and Trimurti Nagar fire station were deployed on the operation.
Mayor Dayashanker Tiwari, visited the spot and inquired about the condition of fire fighters.
Fire was fought under supervision of Rajendra Uchake, Chief Fire Officer, Mohan Gudadhe, Station officer, Leading firemen Pravin Zade, Nitin Vaidya, khapekar and other staff.
