India’s register 2.8 lakh new case, daily cases dip for the first time in 26 days

Since April India saw an upward trend in daily COVID cases with an increase in death as well with an average of 3 lakh cases everyday but since May things took a turn as India began to record more recovery than the daily surge.

On May 17 India’s daily cases were less than 3 lakh as 2,81,386 new cases and 4102 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours after 26 days with this the weekly Positivity Rate dips to 18.17% with more than 15.73L tests done in the last 24 hours. The recovery of India continued to surpass daily cases as 3,78,741 people recovered from the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

With this the Active case of India stands at 35,16,997 (14.09%). The cumulative tally of confirmed COIVD cases in country reached to 2,49,65,463, with 2,11,74,076 (84.81%) recoveries and 2,74,390 (1.10%) Deaths since the pandemic began.

India has administered 18,29,26,460 vaccines till now whereas 6,91,211 were administered in last 24 hours.

Many nations have been sending medical supplies after India’s healthcare system was burdened by the second Covid wave that led to a deluge of distress messages. “11,058 oxygen concentrators; 13,496 oxygen cylinders; 19 oxygen generation plants; 7,365 ventilators, 5.3L Remdesivir vials” have been transported or delivered to states between April 27 and May 15, the government informed.
