The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Wednesday approved ‘CoviSelf’, a home rapid antigen testing (RAT) kit for COVID-19.
The test kit is made by a Pune-based startup Mylab Discovery Solutions.
Although ICMR has approved the self testing kit, it is advised only in symptomatic individuals and immediate contacts of laboratory-confirmed positive cases.
Coviself comes will a complete kit and the user will be required to download an app to test self. The test takes only 5 mins with the result coming in 15 mins.
The kit, that collects the sample from a nasal swab, will not be available in the market immediately.
