“Mahila Samman – Mahila Suraksha” Campaign of the Central Government and CAIT was launch by Smriti Irani today across the country

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), in association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, has launched a country-wide unique program from Delhi today in furtherance of the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Beti Bachao- Beti Padao, with the main objective to provide women and daughters of our nation a fear-free safe society, where they can fearlessly become a part of the progress of the country. This program has started today in thousands of small and big cities of different states across the country and every trader of the country will take responsibility for their safety by becoming the guardian of daughters and women.

Launching this nationwide campaign from Delhi today, Union Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare Smt. Smriti Irani tied Rakhi on the hand of CAIT Secretary General Shri Praveen Khandelwal and in return as a Shagun sought the protection of women and daughters across the Country by traders.

Smt Irani said that in Indian culture, women are always seen with respect and are even worshipped but on the other hand it is also a harsh reality that day-to-day abuse and atrocities are also being committed against women across the country, which is unfortunate. Smt. Irani said that the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in his address from the Red Fort on August 15, had emphasized the safety of women in public places and after this appeal of the Prime Minister, CAIT in association with the Ministry of Women Development and Child Welfare took up this issue. With this big step, along with the respect of women, they will also be easily protected from any untoward incidents. She further said that because there is no such place in the country where the trader is not present or there is no shop, therefore the traders are best suited for this program and the coming forward of the traders by joining CAIT in this mission is definitely a big step. She has appealed to all social, cultural, educational, religious and other voluntary organizations of the country to join hands with CAIT and convert this issue into a positive mass movement.

CAIT’s National President Shri BC Bhartia and National Secretary General Shri Praveen Khandelwal said that we have launched this campaign just a day before Raksha Bandhan, to make the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to run fast across the country. Under this Women Safety-Women Samman program. today, The women tied Rakhi to the male traders and gave them the status of brother and the male brother also filled a Pledge Form and pledged to protect their honor and protect them by becoming the guardians of women and daughters.

Under this program, there are shops of traders in all the markets and street neighbourhoods across the country, they will become the guardians of the women coming to their market and the daughters and women living in their area. A helpline number will be issued by each association in the market and that helpline number will be shown at all prominent places in the market and if any woman in trouble calls on that helpline then immediately a squad of traders of the association will reach to help her. On the other hand, arrangements for women’s toilets are also being made in all the markets of each state, for this, on the instructions of the Union Ministry of Urban Development, the local municipal corporations will also help the traders. Apart from this, if the traders keep any servant or maid in their shop or house, then their police verification will be done from their nearest police station as soon as possible. The help of the local police station will be given to expedite this work. Apart from this, if there is any such place in the market or city where there is darkness, such places will be identified and the local administration will be informed about it in writing and a women security team will be formed in all the associations.

This campaign will be jointly run across the country by CAIT and the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, in which the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Union Urban Development Ministry, Union Ministry of Jal Shakti and Central Ministry of Power will cooperate, while all the state governments and local administration at the district level and Municipal Corporation and Municipality will also cooperate.
