Dayashankar Tiwari, the Mayor, felicitated Grand Master (GM) Sankalp Gupta, who achieved the honour of being 2nd GM from the city and 71st from the country, by visiting his residence here in Bajeria on Wednesday.
Tiwari and Pramod Tabhane, Chairman, Sports Committee, NMC, presented him shawl, shreefal and boquet.
Tiwari congratulated Sankalp saying that he has brought laurels to the city by becoming the GM. This achievement will prove to be an encouragement for the youths and players in the city, he added.
In the round-robin chess tournament held at Serbia, Sankalp achieved his third norm to become GM and that too within a span of just one month.
