30-hours Kanhan WTP shutdown on November 22

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Orange City Water have planned to take 30-hours shutdown of Kanhan Water Treatment Plant from November 22 (Monday) at 10 am to November 23 (Tuesday) at 4 pm.

During 30-hours shutdown technical work on Kanhan -1300 feeder line: 4 meter 1300mm pipe line piece replacement at Backside of Sai Mandir, near Pili Nadi, Pressure transmitter installation at various Kanhan Based ESR & Flow Control Valve (FCV) installation at Bharatwadi ESR will be carried out.

While on Kanhan -900 supply line Leakage Repairing work on 700mm Bastarwadi Branch Feeder at Jai Bhim Chowk will be carried out. Along with this several other Kanhan WTP maintenance work will also be carried out during shutdown. During this shutdown National Highway Authority of India will also carry out its 450×450 interconnection work.

It may be mentioned here, after completion of technical work, it will take few more hours to clear the air trapping and restore the flow at ESR’s inlet & the actual water supply in the affected areas, which too limited and with low pressure will resume only after 7 pm in evening hours slot of consumers on November 23 (Tuesday).

As shutdown is need of an hour to save potable water & reduce non-revenue water (NRW), NMC & OCW has appealed citizens from above mentioned affected areas to co-operate and store sufficient water for their use in advance.

Following this 30-hours shutdown, water supply in almost 28 ESR’s from 4 zones of Satranjipura, Lakadganj, Aasinagar and Nehru Nagar zone shall remain affected. Further as 28 ESR’s will remain empty, water supply through Tankers will also be not possible during and after shutdown in affected areas.

Water supply from 28 ESR (Overhead water Tanks) to remain affected during shutdown are:

AshiNagar Zone : Bezonbagh ESR , Binaki -Existing , Binaki-1&2 , Indora-1&2, Bazonbagh, Gamdoor DT, Aaakashwani DT, & Jaswant Talkies DT ESR command areas Satranjipura Zone: Bastarwadi-1 , 2A & 2B ,Shanti Nagar ESR, Wanjari (Vinoba Bhave Nagar), Itabhatti Square DT, Nehru Nagar Zone: Nandanvan (Old), Nandanvan I, II, , Sakkardara, I, II, III, Tajbagh ESR & Kharabi ESR.

Lakadganj Zone: Bhandewadi, Deshpande Lay Out (Bharatwada), Lakadganj, Minimata Nagar, Subhan Nagar ESR, Kalamana ESR and Pardi I & Pardi II.

Citizens are requested to take a note that during and after shutdown at Kanhan WTP, Water supply through Tankers will also be not possible in the affected areas. NMC & OCW has appealed citizens from above mentioned affected areas to co-operate and store sufficient water for their use in advance.
