Women workers splash ink at Amt Mpl Commissioner

Women activists of Yuwa Swabhimani Party splashed ink at Dr Pravin Ashtikar, Municipal Commissioner, Amravati, on Wednesday to protest against removing of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the triangle point on Rajapeth Railway Over Bridge and defaced him. The security men tried to save the official.

The incident occurred when Dr Ashtikar had gone to inspect the ongoing work of underpass there. The workers got irritated and took this step to protest against Amravati Municipal Corporation for removing the statue installed by Ravi Rana, MLA and leader of Yuwa Swambhimani Party.

It is reported that Ravi Rana had installed this statue without prior permission from the corporation right in the middle of trangle point on the bridge to mark Jijau Mata Jayanti on January 11. The corporation with the help of police had removed it on January 16 as it was illegally installed. The corporation also removed the pedestal one week ago.
