Campaign launched to remove advts, hoardings, nails from trees

Nagpur Municipal Corporation Dharampeth Zone, Green Vigil Foundation and 93.5 Red FM collaboratively undertook a second round of campaign to remove illegal advertisements, hoardings, stickers, nails, lighting etc. from trees. This campaign was conducted at Laxmi Bhavan square, Children’s Traffic Park, Gokulpeth, Giripeth etc.

Surbhi Jaiswal  and Mehul Kosurkar of Green Vigil said people are making multiple use of trees by nailing advertisements, which is totally illegal. We have removed hoardings, small advertisements, lighting, boards, banners from trees, they added.

Dr. Sheetal Chaudhary, a tree expert explained, due to fixing of big nails & trellis, the xylem and phloem gets ruptured leading to stoppage in carrying food and water from  roots to rest of the parts of the trees. Apart from this, nailing tears up the bark and open wounds for pests and diseases.

Team Green Vigil Foundation appeals citizens to stop hammering nails and putting illegal advertisements, hoardings and lights on trees , as trees play a major part in keeping our planet alive.

Deendayal Temberkar, Zonal Officer, Dharampeth Zone and his team along with  R Saurabh, Vishal Dhavas, Gaurav Srirang of 93.5 Red FM and  Green Vigil Team comprising  Kaustav Chatterjee, Surbhi Jaiswal, Mehul Kosurkar, Sheetal Choudhary, Shriya Jogey, Tushar Deshmukh, Dhanshree Agre, Paras Jangade, Sujay Kalbande  & Sakshi Mulekar conducted the campaign.
