The interns of all five Veterinary Colleges are on strike. The interns have demanded hike in their internship allowance.
They are getting Rs 7,500 per month. The ICAR is giving Rs 3,000 and University Rs 4,500. There is no contribution of the State Government. The Maharashtra Government should pay at least Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 to the interns.
The interns have been making appeals to the State Government for the last three years. The demand has remained unanswered.
The five Veterinary Hospitals attached to the colleges also are closed since Monday.
