The project affected persons (PAP) of Birsi Air Strip in Gondia, have taken a step to develop their own homes near the air strip. The decision of the PAP, was taken as they did not get any help after their land and residential premises were acquired by the Government for developing the airport.
The first flight from Birsi airport was to take off on March 13. But it did not take off following agitation by the PAPs.
The PAPs have alleged that they did not receive any compensation so FAR against their land given for the airport. The airport at Gondia was a dream project of former MP Praful Patel of Gondia.
About 1060 families in the area are affected by the project.
