A shocking report of negligence has come forth from Nagpur as four thalassemic children have been tested positive for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) after a blood transfusion.
According to preliminary information, it is said that among the four children one has died. The four now HIV-positive children were provided blood for the treatment of Thalassemia.
The state health department has set up a high-level inquiry into the matter.
A committee will be constituted by the health administration to inquire into the matter and strict action will be taken against those involved.
â€œ4 children tested positive for HIV, out of them one died. Will take action against it. The inquiry will set up,â€ Dr. RK Dhakate, Asst. Dy. Director, Health Department. He said the Food and Drugs Department (FDA) has also started a preliminary investigation into the case.
