On Sunday, Malaysian hackers hacked the Institute of Science Nagpur’s official website. The website’s home page had an anti-India message and an invitation to “assemble once more and launch a campaign against India.”
The hackers identified themselves as ‘DragonForce Malaysia’ and stated in the message that this was a special operation ‘on the insult of Prophet Muhammad’.
Police Inspector (Cyber) Nitin Phatangare said that the cops were initiating action against the hackers. One such case was reported in Mumbai yesterday. Since then, we were on the alert, he said, and added that the website was hacked by sending malware.
Anjali Rahatgaonkar, Director of Institute of Science said that she learnt about the hacking on Sunday morning. “We have alerted Nagpur police about the hacking,†she said.
The Institute of Science was established in 1906 and it is one of the oldest science colleges in Central India.
A senior police official said that the Cyber police was asked to take immediate steps to prevent hacking of important websites.
A special team of cyber police are keeping watch on the hackers who are trying to deliver their message to masses by hacking the websites, the official further said.
