Jay Shah says BCCI implement equal pay for men’s and women’s cricketers

Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, declared equal pay for male and female cricketers on Thursday.

Harmanpreet Kaur and company will receive the same match money as their male counterparts $15 lakh every Test, $6 lakh per ODI, and $3 lakh per T20I under the present system.

In a historic decision, the BCCI declared on Thursday that all centrally contracted men’s and women’s Team India cricketers would receive equal remuneration. Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, made the announcement on Twitter.

This is a historic decision for women’s cricket in India! The pay equity policy along with the WIPL next year, we are ushering into a new era for women's cricket in India. Thank you @JayShah Sir & the @BCCI for making this happen. Really happy today. https://t.co/xOwWAwsxfz

“I’m happy to announce BCCI’s initial effort to combat discrimination. We are putting in place a pay equity policy for the women cricketers we have on contract. As we enter a new age of gender equality in Indian cricket, the match fee will be the same for male and women cricketers “Tweets from Shah

The same match fee will be paid to the female cricketers as it is to their male counterparts. Test ($15 lakh), ODI ($6 lakh), and T20I ($15,000) (INR 3 lakhs). My promise to our female cricket players was pay fairness, and I appreciate the Apex Council’s backing, he continued.
