Union Minister Nitin Gadkari fell ill at an event in Siliguri due to low sugar level, advised to rest.

Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari fell ill on the stage while attending a program in Siliguri’s Dagapur Ground.

There was a drop in his sugar levels while on stage and was brought down from the stage immediately.  He was given saline immediately.

West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee asked the commissioner of Police to take care of the situation. The union minister was taken out from the venue immediately.

Gadkari was in Siliguri to lay the foundation stone for the three national highway projects of Rs.1206 crore in North Bengal.

BJP MLA Neeraj Zimba told the media, Gadkari got immediate medical attention after he fell ill.  He later recovered and went in his car.

Zimba added “ after the program ended, Gadkari complained about feeling uneasy. He was attended by the doctors in the backstage area and later left in his car.”

On Thursday, Gadkari laid the foundation stone of a long road from Shiv Mandir in Siliguri to Sevak’s cantonment.

Nitin    Gadkari shared pictures from the launch event, where he was seen greeting the crowd from the stage, and also tweeted: “Inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 3 NH projects worth Rs. 1206 crore in Siliguri today.”
