Dr. Prakash Deo, President IMA Nagpur (2022-23), a public health specialist and retired ICS (International Civil Services) officer of UNO (United Nations Organization) was felicitated with a special appreciation award by President IMA Maharashtra during the recently concluded annual conference of IMA Maharashtra State at Shirdi.
Dr. Prakash Deo received this award for his basic work on issues and concerns of IMA branches and to come out with guidebooks as a reference manual for each IMA branch in the state, which was endorsed by IMA Maharashtra state. His four guidebooks include the following key areas:
1. Functioning of each IMA branch on administrative, establishment, and financial issues.
2. A model constitution of the IMA branch and functioning of each IMA branch in consensus with guidelines and protocols defined by the office of Charity commissioner as a registered Public trust.
3. Functioning of patient’s grievance cell at IMA branch – IMA Nagpur Experience of 10 years.
4. Mentoring and Counseling support to resident doctors pursuing their post graduation medical colleges, by senior IMA members of the concerned specialty.
Dr. Prakash Deo has been working selflessly with IMA as a grass root level committed worker now for more than 20 years.
He was instrumental and pioneered to engage IMA to contribute effectively for implementation of National RCH (Reproductive Health and Child Health) Program and the most important for advocating role of medical professionals for reversing the declining the child sex ratio in the country, having adverse social impact.
