The Under-19 boy’s team was felicitated by The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) on Wednesday for winning a double crown this season that is 2022- 23.
The Vidarbha Under-19 cricket team won the multi-day Cooch Behar Trophy earlier this month after winning the Vinoo Mankad (One-Day) Trophy in October of last year.
Recall that Vidarbha last won the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2017–18 and the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2018–19. The U-19 boys had also twice placed second in the Cooch Behar Trophy—in 2018–19 and 2019–20.
At a brief ceremony conducted in the Billimoria Hall of the VCA’s stadium at Civil Lines, Justice Vinay M. Deshpande (Retd), the VCA president, presented the players and support staff each a silver salver.
Adwait Manohar, the most recent president of the VCA, who presided over the team’s Vinoo Mankad Trophy success, was present as a special guest.
Congratulating the boys, VCA president Vinay Deshpande said: “Heartiest congratulations to the entire squad. I am sure this will serve as a stepping stone for bigger success in the future. If you keep working hard and maintain your focus and concentration, I am sure you will achieve your goals.”
The VCA president also praised the parents of the players who attended the event for their contribution.
