After serving liquor to underage customers, city police have ordered the closure of Illusions pub for one month. The city police is preparing to launch a special campaign against pubs and hookah parlours that are breaking the law and endangering customers. However, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) fire department and other departments have taken no significant action against these establishments.
ACP Nilesh Palve raided the Illusions Pub on Friday night after receiving information that liquor was being served to underage people. Several such people were discovered there. A few drunk customers also misbehaved with the ACP. The pub was overcrowded, which could have resulted in tragedy. Ambazari police have registered two cases into the incident, one against the pub’s owner and the other against customers who misbehaved with the ACP.
Similarly, a fight broke out at Lord Of The Drinks pub over customer entry. Even now, the police in Bajaj Nagar have not taken any action. Some of these establishments are now being inspected by city police, according to reports.

It is worth noting that the city’s pub culture has not yet fully developed. Even the police administration has not issued clear guidelines regarding pub norms. As a result, pub owners have demanded that clear guidelines be provided to them so that they can follow them.
Fights over business rivalries?
Pritam, a pub owner, is said to have played a significant role in the incident at Lords of the Drinks. Pritam owns and operates a hookah lounge. He was at LOD with his friends at a party. He was upset with the bouncer because he was refused entry. During this time, a girl was molested, and a fight ensued. Dinesh Anna, the mastermind behind the fight at Dabo Pub a month ago, also owns a hookah parlour. Both incidents point to competition among pub owners, which leads to unsavoury incidents.
