According to police, at least 16 passengers narrowly escaped when a fire broke out in an air-conditioned state transport in Maharashtra’s Nagpur on Tuesday.
According to an official, the incident occurred in the morning hours at Kondhali, about 50 kilometres from the district headquarters, while the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation’s (MSRTC) ‘Shivshahi’ bus was on its way to Amravati.

According to him, the bus had 16 passengers on board when the fire broke out. The bus was immediately stopped, and the passengers safely exited the vehicle, which had been gutted by the fire, according to the official.
Police believe the fire was caused by a short circuit, he said, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
