Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has decided to implement the National Education Policy 2020 from the ensuing academic session 2003-24. The Academic Council took the decision during its meeting held on June 5.
The National Education Policy (NEP) with its new format will be implemented in the University. As provided in the NEP the degree course will be of four years. Most of the Board of Studies have drafted curriculum for the four-year degree course. The post-graduation will be of one year.
A large number of options have been provided for the students to select from. The meeting of the Academic Council which cleared the decision of implementation of NEP from the next academic session was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhari and attended by deans of the four faculties.
The NEP will be implemented progressively. Those admitted for the first year for any under-graduation course will be registered under the NEP.
The teachers and related staff will be trained by the University, Dr Chaudhari assured the Academic Council.
The issue of faculty for different kind of optional subjects is a difficult proposition, particularly in rural areas. The students and their parents are required to be informed about the new pattern and the options available for the students..
