A horrified group of classmates and teachers watched in horror as a class Xth student at Gayatri Convent in Rahatekar Wadi fell to the ground this morning while attending school prayers.
The student, identified as Devansh Manohar Thaware (15), rode his bike to his school on Dasara Road in the Mahal neighborhood of the city, according to Kotwali police. He lived in the Lalganj neighborhood. At 11:45 a.m., Devansh and his classmates were taking part in the assembly prayers held in a shed situated on the school premises. When he was about to pass out due to a dizzy spell, the students helped to support him.
He was taken to a nearby private hospital after the students informed the teachers. Later doctors advised that student should be taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital . When the teachers brought him to the GMCH, they found him dead. The school and the community were rocked by the incident. To find out the cause of death, we await the post-mortem report. The family of Devansh consists of his sister, parents, and a private sector worker. Devansh’s family has denied any illnesses or health issues. The Kotwali police have opened an investigation into an accidental death case.
