Nagpur Municipal Corporation has offered ‘Abhay’ amnesty scheme for those who have not paid the property tax, water tax, taxes related to shops taxes etc. Under the scheme rebate upto 80 percent will be given on the interest or penalty if the taxes are paid before March 31, 2024.
The scheme was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on January 1, during the District Planning Committee meeting. Former and sitting Legislators Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Nitin Raut, pravin Datke, Krishna Khopde, Vikas Thakre, Vikas Kumbhare, Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, Additional Communication Anchal Goel and senior officers were present.
The benefit of the scheme can be availed by depositing the taxes at NMC’s Zonal Offices or by online payment.
About 4.5 lakh tax payers can avail this opportunity. If implemented effectively NMC can earn a revenue of Rs 550 crores. Fadnavis appealed to the tax payers to take benefit of the scheme.
