A heartwarming event took place at Nagpur Central Jail on Saturday 4 April, as families of inmates gathered for a special program for children of prisoners. The mood in the prison turned warm and emotional as children sang cheerful and affectionate songs. The children’s performances, filled with joyous songs, brought a sense of familial unity to the otherwise somber environment. A total of 197 boys and girls from 109 families participated in the event, which provided an opportunity for families to reconnect despite the confines of the prison walls.
The motive of the program, the inmates of Nagpur Jail were engulfed in a great emotional entanglement.
Following government directives, the initiative to facilitate meetings between prisoners and their families was executed, with special arrangements made within the jail premises for this purpose. Detainees were provided opportunities to reunite with their relatives, promoting familial bonds. A family program named ‘Galabhet’ was organised to prevent issues of depression and prevent criminal tendencies among inmates. The primary objective of this program is to rehabilitate and reform prisoners, ensuring their integration with society and fostering a sense of humanity and compassion. As a result, inmates at Nagpur Jail found themselves deeply immersed in emotional engagement.
