The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced an enhanced discount of ₹120 for customers who opt for its ‘Go Green’ initiative, encouraging the shift from paper to email-based electricity bills.
Under this program, which aligns with MSEDCL’s slogan “Save Paper, Save Environment,” customers can support environmental sustainability by choosing to receive bills digitally.
Previously, the ‘Go Green’ initiative offered a ₹10 discount per bill payment. However, to further incentivize adoption, MSEDCL has introduced a one-time ₹120 discount, applicable during the first bill payment of the new year for customers who enroll in the program.
Adoption and Goals
Currently, only about 1.15% of MSEDCL’s 3 crore (30 million) customers—approximately 4.62 lakh (462,000)—have opted for the paperless billing option. The increased discount aims to encourage wider participation, reducing paper usage and contributing to environmental conservation.
