Nagpur: As part of the Maharashtra Police Raising Week-2025, the Nagpur City Police organized a “Senior Citizens’ Grievance Redressal Camp” on January 4, 2025, at the Police Bhavan Auditorium. The event, conceptualized by Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, aimed to resolve grievances under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and offer legal guidance.
Advocate Manish Gupta and his team briefed attendees about the Act’s key provisions, providing clarity on legal rights and remedies for senior citizens. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil opened the session, emphasizing the camp’s purpose and summarizing the Act’s significance.
Commissioner Singal highlighted the role of resources like the Bharosa Cell and police helplines (112 and 100) in addressing senior citizens’ issues. He personally interacted with attendees to understand their concerns. Additionally, Suresh Bagde from the Senior Citizens’ Grievance Authority explained the process for claiming maintenance benefits.
The event saw participation from senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Addl CP Pramod Shewale, and Shivajirao Rathod, as well as Zonal DCPs and Station House Officers. Commissioner Singal’s parents also attended, with his father, Zil Singal, offering motivational advice to lead a positive life.
The camp registered 24 grievances, resolving three on the spot. The Bharosa Cell, led by Inspector Seema Surve, successfully managed the event under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil.
