A three-year-old tigress was found dead near Teen Puliya Lake dam in compartment 74B RF of Tumsar forest range, under the Bhandara Forest Division, on January 6, 2025.
Forest officials, along with NTCA representatives and veterinary experts, reached the site and conducted a post-mortem following NTCA’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The tigress was confirmed to have all body parts intact, but the cause of death remains unknown. Samples have been collected for further analysis.
The investigation, led by Deputy Conservator of Forests Rahul Gawai, is being conducted by Forest Extraction Officer Ritesh Bhongade and Range Officer Rahangdale. A forest crime case has also been registered.
The remains were cremated as per SOP protocols. Authorities are working to identify the cause and ensure better wildlife protection measures in the Nagpur region.
