The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) is set to transform the unused diving pool complex at its North Ambazari Road swimming facility into a state-of-the-art indoor sports hub. Spanning approximately half an acre, the redevelopment project aims to provide enhanced recreational opportunities for residents and support Nagpur’s aspirations as a smart city.
Government Approval Secured
NIT has completed the groundwork and received the necessary approvals from the government. The proposal was recently presented to a Union Minister, who endorsed the initiative, paving the way for the project’s expedited implementation.
Key Features of the Project
The current facility boasts a grand swimming pool alongside an underutilized diving pool. The diving pool area will now be repurposed to host a variety of indoor sports, catering to the city’s growing demand for recreational infrastructure. Additionally, a parking zone is planned for the outer premises to accommodate visitors.
Positive Feedback from Stakeholders
NIT has conducted several meetings regarding the project, receiving encouraging feedback and suggestions from stakeholders. The administration is fully committed to fast-tracking the development, ensuring the facility becomes a valuable asset for the city’s residents.
With the green light from all quarters, construction is expected to commence soon, marking a significant step in enhancing Nagpur’s urban landscape.
